Winemaking: Close monitoring of the grapes on the vine ensures ripeness, providing high quality and richly flavoured grapes. After picking the grapes are put under cold maceration for 3 days, then allowed to warm slowly using thermoregulation. Twice daily pumping and monitoring allows optimum polyphenol extraction. The wine is fermented in small lots in stainless steel tanks.
Medals: Gold – Concours International de Lyon 2016
Terroir: Chateau Astrelus wine comes from twenty-year-old vines on clay and flint slopes, scattered with calcareous stones, in the small commune of Cazaugitat – the highest point of the Gironde region of France. We are a small family run estate of only 7 hectares. We practice responsible agriculture and use suppliers from the surrounding community. We bottle our wine at the chateau.
